Sacred Heart Greenwich Unveils Expanded Tennis Facilities on Lower Campus
Sacred Heart Greenwich is proud to announce the opening of its newly expanded Tennis Facilities on its Lower Campus, a project that reflects the school’s commitment to providing premier athletic facilities and exceptional opportunities for student-athletes. This exciting milestone was made possible thanks to the generous philanthropic support of Lise and Tim White and the strategic vision of the Board of Trustees and school leadership.
The new Tennis Facility features nine state-of-the-art post-tension concrete courts—up from the previous six asphalt courts—solidifying Sacred Heart Greenwich’s position as a leader in athletics across the Fairchester region. Construction began following the spring 2024 season and was completed ahead of the fall semester, providing our athletes with a best-in-class facility for training and competition.
“This magnificent new facility reflects our deep commitment to providing students with the resources they need to grow, compete, and thrive,” said President Michael F. Baber. “It represents a significant investment in our student-athletes and in our mission to pursue excellence across every area of school life. We are especially grateful to the White family for their transformative gift and to our Board of Trustees for prioritizing this project within our strategic plan.”
The new courts arrive at a time of remarkable growth for the Sacred Heart Greenwich’s tennis program. With six teams —up from four in previous years—the program serves 35 Middle School and 35 Upper School student-athletes. Increased interest and participation have also led to an expansion of the Middle School program, which now meets three days per week, allowing for more court time and competitive opportunities for all players.
“This is an exciting day for our Athletics program,” said Laurie Rousseau, Director of Athletics. “The enhanced facility is a game-changer for our players and coaches. It not only supports current program growth but lays the groundwork for future community engagement, including our inaugural Alumnae Pickleball event and other events to come.”
This enhancement not only supports our growing athletics program but also enriches our physical education curriculum by providing greater opportunities for skill development and practice. The additional courts will allow more students to participate in tennis during PE classes, ensuring students have the chance to learn and enjoy this lifelong sport.
The Sacred Heart Greenwich community looks forward to celebrating this milestone and embracing the opportunities the new Tennis Center will provide for students, families, and alumnae alike.
