
Special Presentation by David Birdsall of Westchester Joint Water Works at Town Board Meeting

Harrison Mayor Richard Dionisio opened March 20th Board of Trustees meeting, featuring a presentation by David Birdsall from Westchester Joint Water Works (WJWW), regarding Capital Projects and Water Rates.
Birdsall began his presentation, saying that Waterworks was founded in 1927. “WJWW member municipalities are Village of Mamaroneck, Town of Mamaroneck and Town/Village of Harrison.
“In addition to its member municipalities and two small portions of Rye and New Rochelle, WJWW provides between 4.0-5.0 billion gallons of treated water annually, depending on the level of demand which is driven to a great extent by weather conditions. WJWW has completed approximately $70 million of water infrastructure capital projects over the past ten years.”

• 30% rate increase-$1,386.09 (increase of $319,87/year or $26.66/month
• 35% increase-$1,439 (increase of $373.18/year or $31.10/month)
Next, Dionisio presented a Proclamation to former Town Justice/Deputy Town Attorney Nelson E. Canter, thanking him for his many years of dedication and service to the Town of Harrison.
Under Actions and Resolutions, Police Chief John T. Vasta requested approval of Blind Brook High School senior Addison Gabriel to intern at the Harrison Police Department, pursuant to the Spring Student Internship Program, giving an opportunity to develop a professional networking base for future positions in government service or law enforcement. The internship will take place between May 5th and 30th.
Town Engineer Michael Amodeo requested authorization for Town/Village Board to serve as Lead Agency for State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) of proposed the Brentwood Brook Floodplain Restoration Project, encompassing three primary locations: the “Duck Pond;” Tee Ball Field on Louis M. Klein Middle School property, and grass area located between Nelson Avenue and Dinsmore Place, within the southeast corner of the Louis M. Klein Middle School property.
