Manhattanville President Frank D. Sánchez, Ph.D. to be Honored at VISIONS Bronx- Westchester Awards Event
VISIONS, a nonprofit organization that provides services for the blind and visually impaired, will be honoring Frank D. Sánchez, Ph.D., President of Manhattanville University, at the VISIONS Bronx-Westchester Advisory Board Awards Event on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Surf Club in New Rochelle. The event will be emceed by Lisa Sorin, President of The New Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
Every year, VISIONS holds a pre-college program for blind and visually challenged high school juniors and seniors at Manhattanville University. The program offers students a chance to hone their academic, social and independent living skills before transitioning to full-time college studies. Students are enrolled in a non-credit “Introduction to College Life” course and a seminar where they develop technology and writing skills for college. Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapists and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists help students master the life skills they’ll need for a successful transition to college.
“For the past 12 summers, Manhattanville University has welcomed our blind and low-vision students and staff with open arms, providing a truly enriching academic experience,” said Natalia S. Young, VISIONS Acting Executive Director/CEO. “The staff has gone above and beyond to ensure that students feel welcome, and their needs are accommodated.”
“Manhattanville University and VISIONS share a mission of student success and social responsibility,” said Dr. Sánchez. “I am honored to have been chosen among the influential leaders at the VISIONS Bronx-Westchester Advisory Board Awards Event.”
Dr. Sánchez will be recognized alongside Diane Dudzinski, President of Don Blauweiss Advertising and Design and Member of the Bronx-Westchester Advisory Board; Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts and MGM Resorts Foundation; and Drita ‘Didi’ Zagreda, Patient Care Associate at Jacobi Medical Center and Nursing Technician at White Plains Hospital.
Proceeds from the event will support VISIONS’ vital programs in the Bronx and Westchester, which help people who are blind or visually impaired live independently, navigate their communities safely, access adaptive technology, and secure meaningful employment, all at no cost to them.
