Appointments Announced; Special Exception Use Application and Declaration Revocation Approved

Under Town business at the Town/Village of Harrison Board meeting on January 8, Councilperson Elizabeth Brown was appointed  Deputy Supervisor and Cara Meadow was appointed Confidential Secretary to the Supervisor of the Town. Gina Smoyver was reappointed Deputy Town Clerk, Town Clerk Jacqueline Greer Marriage Officer, Sean O’Connell Deputy Court Clerk, and Supervisor Dionisio Public Library Treasurer. Additionally, Supervisor Dionisio, Councilperson Gina Evangelista, and Councilperson Brown were appointed as the  Police Pension Fund Officers, and Frank A. Acocella was appointed Deputy Town Attorney. 

A request by Comptroller Maureen MacKenzie to approve the annual contract with Pinnacle Care, a patient advocate and health navigation service that helps families obtain access to better healthcare was approved. The fee for this service is currently being paid by Harrison’s benefits advisor, Alera Group; no fee is being paid by Harrison for this service.

Supervisor Dionisio’s request to renew the contract with Weatherworks, a complete forecast and storm alert service used by the Town since 2022 to deliver accurate forecasts to DPW, Police, and Emergency Services at a yearly fee of $1,995 was approved by the Board.

The Board then considered a special exception use application and declaration revocation for 2500-2700 Westchester Avenue, two office buildings constructed in the 1980s, was approved. Attorney/Partner Steven M. Wrabel, McCullough, Goldberger and Staudt, LLP said that 2500 was doing well regarding tenancy; the 2700 building is vacant. There are 71 total units; sixty-seven are market rate, and four are Work Force affordable at 80% Area Median Income (AMI). The request was approved and the restrictive covenant on the property was extinguished by roll call vote. 

In Village Board business, Jonathan D. Kraut was reappointed Village Attorney, and Mitchell Baker was reappointed as Deputy Village Attorney, both for one-year terms.
