2024 Grand Marshall of the Harrison Memorial Day Parade, Bruno C. Strati

Harrison’s Favorite Centenarian, Bruno C. Strati

BY JOYCE FARRELL

Bruno C. Strati, a long-time Harrison civic leader and businessman, will turn 100 on June 5. A World War II veteran who was stationed in Hawaii, Bruno was honored as this year’s Grand Marshal of Harrison’s Memorial Day Parade.

One of ten children, Bruno, the son of Italian immigrants, was married to his wife, Victoria, for 69 years until her death in 2016. Together, Victoria and Bruno raised their family of two boys and a girl in Harrison, where Bruno owned S & S Television and Radio, at which he worked until it closed in 2019. If the building in which it was located had not been sold, his daughter, Debra Strati-Padawer, is certain that he’d still be there. In addition to operating his own business, Bruno became a real estate broker and worked simultaneously in his wife’s real estate business.

After serving his country, Bruno continued a lifelong commitment to public service, which included having been the Harrison Planning Board Chairman, Councilman/Trustee of the Harrison Town Board, the Harrison Fire and Police  Commissioner, and Harrison’s 2019 Citizen of the Year. He was also on the Revitalization of Downtown Committee and was the Cable TV Committee recipient of the Westchester County Environmental and Conservation Awards.

These days, Bruno still lives in the home he shared with Victoria and now shares with a full-time aide. He enjoys gardening and building 3D kinetic energy puzzles. Although Bruno thinks it’ll be a day just like any other, his family intends to take him to a local restaurant on June 5 to celebrate their and Harrison’s favorite centenarian.
