Audio Theater Recreation of Lux Radio Theater’s Version of It’s a Wonderful Life
It Was “a Wonderful Life” in Port Chester & Larchmont
The Lions Club and its partners presented a live audio theater recreation of the 1947 Lux Radio Theater’s version of the Holiday Classic movie, It’s a Wonderful Life. There were two performances on Saturday, December 21 from Noon-1:30 p.m. at the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library and 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the Larchmont Village Center.
The free events featured a very special audio welcome from Karolyn Grimes, who played Zuzu in the original movie. The event also included a video interview with Karolyn and Jimmy Hawkins, who played her brother, Tommy Bailey, in the movie.
The production was led by Jason Summers and the Sandbox Theatre. The audience and performers featured professional, blind, handicapped, and local school theater students.
The cast included Jason Summers, Megan Bruno, Thomas Beck Jr., Paul Russo, Derek Tarson, Marc Wager, Kathleen Mahan, Jamie Petrone, Mario Andres, Brenden Martinez, Nick Sarames, Jack Butler (Mamaroneck HS), Daniel Bornstein (Scarsdale Middle School), Josephine Haverty-Stacke (St. Joseph’s School), and Giselle Lioi (Anne Hutchinson School).
It’s a Wonderful Life was co-sponsored by the Larchmont Library, Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library, the Sandbox Theatre, SPERDVAC (The Society for the Preservation of Radio Drama, Variety and Comedy), The Westchester Council for the Blind, LMC Media, and the Larchmont Mamaroneck and Port Chester/Rye Brook Lions Clubs.
Based on the success of this and the Halloween Frankenstein audio theater productions, look for future Audio Theater productions.
