Broadview at Purchase College
Celebrates Construction Milestone

On November 9, Broadview at Purchase College hosted its Topping Off ceremony to celebrate the raising and installation of the senior living community’s final construction beam. The beam bore signatures of future residents, or “Charter Members,” to memorialize their commitment to the community as their names became part of the building’s structure.
Broadview at Purchase College is a university-based retirement community located in Purchase. Broadview champions intergenerational friendships and lifelong learning, with a Founders Learning Commons on-site where students and Charter Members will be able to learn together. Broadview supports scholarships for students and the hiring of faculty at Purchase College. The project is scheduled to open in Fall 2023.
The charter members enjoyed a slide show and lunch before parading outside behind Purchase College student trumpeters, who amplified the celebratory mood. The crowd of over 200 people cheered as the final beam was raised into place. With over 92% of residences reserved and construction well underway, the event brought together future residents and members of the Purchase College community to celebrate, hear project updates, and view the construction site.
The ceremony also featured speakers who highlighted the community building that has already begun and how Broadview will continue to integrate with and support Purchase College and the greater Westchester County community in the years to come.
“The excitement surrounding this project is one of the things that most drew me to Purchase two years ago,” said Dr. Milagros “Milly” Peña, President of Purchase College, SUNY. “Broadview will transform our campus, physically and intellectually. Beyond the beautiful new buildings and shared outdoor space, Broadview has the potential to make new connections between students and faculty and residents and create new opportunities for intergenerational learning.”
Broadview Executive Director Ashley Wade added, “In the three years since the first reservation was finalized, it’s been inspiring to see our community of future residents comes to know one another, care about one another and are eager to engage on the purchase college campus. The next time we gather officially will be at the ribbon cutting!
