After being nominated, Kacy submitted three essays: My Boys and Girls Club Experience, What Matters to Me, and Overcoming Obstacles.  The process includes letters of recommendation, preparing and presenting a speech, and a personal interview.  Kasy was among four finalists, before being named Youth of the Year at the club’s annual dinner.

Kacy has been member of the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester since first grade, where she attended summer camp before volunteering as a camp counselor.  Kacy is an empathetic, determined and creative young woman who plans to study sociology in college.

Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier leadership program, distinguishing and celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members who embody the values of leadership, service, academic excellence, and healthy lifestyles. Each year, thousands of Club teens in the nation participate in local, state, and regional Youth of the Year events.
