August Events at The Purchase Free Library

On Saturday, August 27 at 11:00 am., The Purchase Free Library will host Touch Tank! Kyle Troy from the Marine Education Center will visit to talk about local marine life and ecology. Troy will bring a few friends in her “touch tank” for kindergarten to Grade 6 children to view and touch!
Beginning Spanish for Adults. Spanish classes to be held on a weekly basis at the library, in person. Beginning level. Start your journey toward becoming a fluent speaker with a, b, c, ch, d! Registration accepted now. Beginning in September or October.
Children’s Chess Club. An experienced chess instructor will visit the library twice monthly to teach the basics of this exciting game to children. Lessons are free. Once an official group has registered, the library will reach out with further details. The program will start in September or October for Grade 4 to Grade 6.
New Laptops Available. Brand-new Chromebook laptops are now available for check-out. Loan periods are two weeks. Purchase library card must be in good standing. Call for more information.
Tech Help: Personal Appointments. Not sure how to download an e-book? Did you know that you can watch movies and read magazines online? All you need is your library card. Set up a personal appointment with a library staff member. Appointments are in thirty-minute time slots. In person, Mondays to Thursdays, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Museum Passes. Check out a pass and take a visit to the Intrepid, the Westchester Children’s Museum, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, the Guggenheim, The American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the City of New York, or the Stamford Museum and Nature Center.
On Saturday, September 24, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm., in-person, the library will host an Open House for adults from Purchase, West Harrison, or Harrison. Drop in and ask about becoming a library trustee! Meet the staff and take a tour! Inquire about library services and programs.
