Purchase Free Library has Interesting February Events

The Purchase Free Library has announced many exciting programs for February. Register for the following events at www.purchasefreelibrary.org or call (914) 948-0550. All library programs are free.

 

Bridge Club for adults will take place on Tuesday, February 1, 3:00 pm.  This in person bridge club for beginners meets on the first Tuesday of every month.  Lessons with expert instructor are free.  Library provides materials.  Come with pen and pad for notetaking.

 

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with in person Movie Night Festivities.  Fridays, February 4, 11, 18, 25, 6:00 pm. It’s the arrival of the Year of the Tiger with selected films from the best in modern Chinese and Chinese American cinema.  Feb 4: Thriller Night / Feb 11: Children’s Night / Feb 18: Comedy Night / Feb 25: Drama Night.  Movie snacks (sunflower seeds and coconut water) to be served.  Feb 4, 18, and 25 for Adults  and  Feb 11 for Children. 

 

 A Zoom Discussion for Adults with the Neuberger Museum of Art will be held Saturday, February 5, at 1:00 pm.  Two docents from the museum will chat about the exhibitions, permanent collections, and educational programs available to the Purchase community.  A Zoom link will be provided after registration. 

 

Kids and Crafts with Miss Anna takes place Friday, February 11, at 4:00 pm., in person. This month’s craft is splatter-paint valentines.  Books will be on display, so be sure to bring your library card.  Fines waived for lost children’s cards. This is a monthly program for   Kindergarten to Grade 6. 

The Real Book Club will be held in person on Thursday, February 24, at 6:00 pm.  The selection for February is Oh William! by Elizabeth Strout. This in-depth book discussion is mixed with lively chitchat for adults, in person.

 

Dr. Dorothee von Huene-Greenberg of Pace University presents an engrossing lecture for adults, in person, about the safe houses, towns, freedom seekers, and conductors of the historical Underground Railroad that coursed north through Westchester County on Saturday, February 26, at 1:00 pm.

 

 On Thursdays, February 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 1:30 pm, an in person, Adult Knitting Circle, is a fun blend of beginning and advanced knitters.  Coffee served weekly.  Adults.  

 

Digital Resources are available at the Purchase Free Library. You can download ebooks and eaudiobooks, stream movies and TV shows, listen to music, and read comics and magazines online with just your library card and a click of your mouse.  The library will be closed on February 21.
