Rye High School Inducts New Members of National Honor Society

A group of 168 students from Rye High School were inducted as the newest members of National Honor Society during a celebration in the school’s Performing Arts Center on May 19.

The students – members of the Class of 2027 – were selected for membership based on the National Honor Society’s four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership and character. Led by National Honor Society adviser Alex Paley, the ceremony included opening remarks, student and faculty reflections, a candle induction ceremony, the recitation of the National Honor Society pledge and presentation of certificates.

During the candle induction ceremony, students reflected on the meaning and importance of each pillar before lighting candles representing scholarship, service, leadership and character. Caroline Tighe lit the Candle of Scholarship, Jonathan Rotondo lit the Candle of Service, Anisa Machano lit the Candle of Leadership and Griffin Lewis lit the Candle of Character.

School administrators, board of education members, faculty advisers, family members and friends gathered to recognize the accomplishments and dedication of the inductees.

Congratulations to all newly inducted members of Rye High School National Honor Society for exemplifying the values of scholarship, leadership, service and character throughout the Rye Community.
