Rhythm on Rye Earns Third Place at ICHSA Northeast Quarterfinal
Rhythm on Rye, Rye High School’s student-directed a cappella group, had an outstanding performance at the 2026 International Championship of High School A Capella Northeast Quarterfinal, held at Bellport Middle School on Feb. 28. The group earned third place in the highly competitive field of performers from across the region.
The students performed “Apologize” by Timbaland feat. OneRepublic, with Natalie Rosenbluth as soloist and Sam Rodriguez as arranger; “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake with Luke Gordon and Fiona Green as soloists and Maddy Valdez as arranger; and “Diamonds” by Rihanna with Leah Arus as soloist and Maddy Valdez as arranger.
Members of Rhythm on Rye include Leah Arus, Morgan Anderson, Dean Armstrong, Eliza Chai, Mia Escaleira, Rebekah Golub, Luke Gordon, Fiona Green, Calvin Holler, Gaby McGuire, Raiya Morad, Melisa Pirinccioglu, Ananya Prasad, Sam Rodriguez, Natalie Rosenbluth, Hayden Souza, Maddy Valdez and Amelia Walsh. The students write their own vocal arrangements and create original choreography.
“What stood out was their ability to demonstrate their passion and joy for performing a Capella music through giving a tight, top-notch performance filled with musicianship, exciting choreography and enjoyment,” faculty adviser Thomas Snowden said.
Semifinal rounds will take place in locations throughout the country, while the national finals will be held in New York City in April.
