Broadview at Purchase College Celebrates Construction Milestone

On November 9, Broadview at Purchase College hosted its Topping Off ceremony   to celebrate the raising and installation of the senior living community’s final construction beam. The beam bore signatures of future residents, or “Charter Members,” to memorialize their commitment to the community as their names became part of the building’s structure.

Lifting Up Westchester Announces Sixth Annual Student Essay Contest

Lifting Up Westchester, a non-profit agency committed to helping individuals experiencing homelessness and hunger achieve self-sufficiency, announces their sixth annual high school student essay contest. Open to all students attending school in Westchester in the 7th to 12th grades, this year students are invited to think about the connections between, and misperceptions about, mental health and homelessness and how we might end the stigmas attached to both. 

Manhattanville College Radiologic Technology Program Receives 8-year Accreditation

Manhattanville College School of Nursing and Health Science’s Radiologic Technology program has been awarded an 8-year accreditation, the maximum duration allowed, by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

HHS Playhouse Performs Puffs (Two Act for Young Wizards)

The Harrison High School Playhouse presented Puffs by Matt Cox on Friday, November 4th, Saturday, November 5th and Sunday, November 6th… Harrison High School students performed the play in the Harrison Performing Arts Center at the high school. Puffs is the story a boy who discovers that he is a wizard and goes to Wizard school. Called an “alternate narrative for the underdog” by the Wall Street Journal, the play chronicles the boy’s adventures through wizard school with his best friends as they navigate their way through magic school and redefine what it means to be a hero.

HHS College Fair a Huge Success

Harrison High School hosted its annual College Fair on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022 during the school day. Students in 11th and 12th grades had an opportunity to speak directly with representatives from seventy colleges, universities, and the military.  To help students prepare for the College Fair, the HHS school counselors prepared a video that includes guidance on how to navigate the college fair experience and how to engage with college admissions representatives. The fair gives students an opportunity to meet with representatives from various colleges and explore options for their post high school studies. Members of the High School PTA generously provided refreshments and preparations.

Harrison High School Students Recognized for Achievement in Italian

In honor of Italian Heritage and Culture Month, four HCSD students were awarded certificates by the Westchester Coalition of Italian American Organizations. Students were chosen for the award based on merit in Italian class and interest in Italian culture.  The students recognized were 8th graders Nicholas Pelliccio (teacher Christina Palma) and Michael Robert Radosta (teacher Aurora Russo), as well as 10th grader Christina Zumbo (teacher Dana Jakubowski) and 12th grader Mia Paparatti (teacher Cristina DiStasio).  In addition to her award, Mia Paparatti received a scholarship sponsored by Ace Endico.

Harrison Educational Foundation Fundraiser Supports School Programs

The Harrison Educational Foundation Fundraiser was held at Harrison Meadows Country Club on Thursday, October 13th. More than 150 parents and friends turned out to support the foundation and its efforts to support programs in all six of the district’s schools. HEF awards for district programs including, 3-D printers, robotics program and other tech education programs, college tours, e-library, and the fitness center at Harrison High School.

Manhattanville College and Academic Partnerships Launch Online Degree Programs

In a continuing effort to diversify its educational offerings, Manhattanville College will launch a portfolio of online degrees supported by Academic Partnerships (AP), beginning in January 2023.
