Purchase College Announces Two Fulbright Awards for the 2022-2023 Academic Year

Purchase College, SUNY has announced that the college has received two major institutional Fulbright awards for the 2022-23 academic year.  President Dr. Milagros Peña said, “I’m proud to announce these prestigious awards which will enable us to continue our commitment to global education both here on campus and abroad. I am grateful to Dean for Global Strategy and International Programs Anne Kern for her leadership and stewardship of these important grants.  We are also grateful for Westchester County Executive George Latimer’s support of Mr. Gbeffa’s Scholar-In-Residence award.”

College Money Matters Educates the Next Generation of Borrowers

As federal student debt climbs with a record 43.4 million borrowers, College Money Matters, Inc., a local nonprofit serving college-bound high school students, offers free, valuable information on paying for college without amassing punishing levels of loan debt.  College Money Matters has launched an interactive, independent, ad-free website, , designed to provide, clear, engaging, and unbiased information about how to finance a college degree without incurring more debt than students and families can handle. 

James Barker Receives Youth Award

Harrison resident and high school senior James Barker, 17, recently was honored by St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester, a division of St. Joseph’s Medical Center. An Advanced Placement student at Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, Barker was one of only 22 students in Westchester to be named a St. Vincent’s Auxiliary honoree. 

Harrison High School Senior Kacy Espita Named Youth of the Year

Harrison High School Senior Kacy Espita was named Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester. After being nominated, Kacy submitted three essays: My Boys and Girls Club Experience, What Matters to Me, and Overcoming Obstacles. 

College and HHREC Co-Sponsor Screening of Holocaust Historical Film

Purchase College State University of New York and the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center (HHREC) co-sponsored a screening of a documentary film and talk with Executive Producer Nancy Spielberg on April 26th at the Humanities Theater on the campus of Purchase College.
