A Dramatic and Poignant Veterans Day Commemoration

Harrison Veterans Service Officer Joseph Mazzulo opened the West Harrison Veterans Day Commemoration on Friday, November 11th, pointing to several 90+-year old World War II veterans in the audience. 

Highlighting Diabetes Awareness at the NYSE

West Harrison’s Peter Hoffman was part of an effort to highlight diabetes awareness on November 1 by ringing the opening bell on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange {NYSE}. He is taking part because of his involvement with the Diabetes Link, the only national diabetes organization that focuses specifically on people in their teens and twenties, in recognition that this time of their lives is full of enough change and challenges without a chronic disease added to the mix.

Harrison Public Library Hosts December Events

The Harrison Public Library is gearing up for many exciting events in December. The Bling’s the Thing, a Beaded Earring Workshop will begin the month on Friday, December 2 at 4 pm. United Way Hosts 10th Annual Women’s Leadership Event

The Women’s Leadership Council, a United Way of Westchester and Putnam initiative will host its 10th annual Take a Walk in Her Shoes breakfast and fundraiser on Tuesday, December 6th at 8 a.m. at Tappan Hill in Tarrytown. 

Westchester Library System’s Digital Equity Initiative – Reconnect with Tech

Westchester Library System (WLS) Digital Equity Initiative now includes targeted technology support for individuals returning to the community after incarceration with the Reconnect with Tech. WLS is collaborating with The STEM Alliance to offer Wi-Fi enabled Chromebooks with one year Wi-Fi subscription to returning citizens who successfully complete a 15-hour digital skills training workshop and an introduction to library resources.

Ellen and Michael Hefter of Purchase have announced the marriage of their son, Steven, to Risa Israeloff, daughter of Cheryl and Lawrence Israeloff of Woodbury, New York. 

American Heart Association Names New Executive Director

Amanda Palumbo, a Hudson Valley native, has been named the Executive Director of the American Heart Association (AHA) in Westchester & Fairfield, CT Counties.   

SLOW JAMZ Extended

Tomashi Jackson: SLOW JAMZ is now on view at the Neuberger Museum of Art through December 11, 2022. The show is curated by Helaine Posner, Chief Curator Emerita, Neuberger Museum of Art.
